The family of Edwin Lee Choate are sad to announce the passing of the loving son, brother and uncle on Oct. 6, 2022, at the age of 68.

He was born to Robert and Marjorie Choate on Sept. 30, 1954, and graduated in 1972 from Columbia Central High School in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Ed spent many years acting and directing in shows at the Williams County Playhouse in Ohio.

There, he made many lifelong friends whom he both cherished and admired.

His family could often be found cheering from the audience.

He enjoyed spending time camping with his family, teaching his nieces, great-nieces and great-nephew country western songs, making hobo pies and campfire popcorn.

As they were growing up, Ed often encouraged the children of the family to learn something during their travels.

He would often accompany the family to historical sites, once even making a camping trip to visit Washington, D.C., and Colonial Williamsburg.

After retiring from Titan Tire Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, it was not uncommon for him to take an afternoon to meet up with an uncle for a round of golf or to live out his dream of going camping in his airstream trailer, his devoted dog Goober by his side.

Ed’s memory is survived by his two loving sisters, Joyce (Charlie) Betz and Kathy (Tom) Moon, his brother, Barry Choate, his two adoring nieces Jennifer (Arthur) Summer and Shonda Betz and his friend and nephew, Ben Murphy. Also, by his three great-nieces Abby, Emily and Mia, his great-nephew, Benjamin, aunts, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie (Gilbert) Choate, his niece, Michelle Murphy (Sautter), and several aunts and uncles.

In lieu of services, donations may be made in the memory of Ed Choate to the Williams County Community Theatre, 208 W. Butler, Bryan, Ohio 43506.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 205 N. Elizabeth Street, Bellevue, MI 49021.
