Esteban J. “Steve” Serrano, 88, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.
Steve was born on Dec. 25, 1937, in Puebla, Mexico. He married Silveria Ramirez in 1970, and together they had his first daughter Maria.
Steve then married Helena L. Hoose in 1990, and they were blessed with five children.
He then married Martina B. Briseno on April 16, 2001, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2022. Steve was an entrepreneur, owning his own appliance repair business.
He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233. Steve was an avid billiard player, and played in a Chess Club in the 1980s. Steve was well known in the Bryan community for his welcoming presence and humor.
Surviving are his seven children, Esteban Serrano Jr., Maria Serrano, Yolanda Scott, Eleazar (Lindsey) Serrano, Sofia (Joseph) Eich, Salomon Serrano and Rosa Gonzales; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one sister.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martina Serrano; and one grandson, Esteban Serrano.
Visitation for Esteban J. “Steve” Serrano was held Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from noon–2 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 610 S. Portland St., Bryan, followed by a Memorial Mass that began at 2 p.m. in the church with Father Andrew Wellmann officiating. Private inurnment took place in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan.
