Evergreen Hires Derick Stoup As New Athletic Director

May 3, 2020Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

Evergreen Local Schools welcomes Derick Stoup as the new district Athletic Director. Serving student athletes in grades 7-12, Stoup will officially take up his post beginning August 1, 2020.

Stoup comes to Evergreen after serving Washington Local Schools for the past five years as Whitmer High School’s health education teacher.

He was also Whitmer’s head wrestling coach where he earned himself the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) 2019 and 2020 Coach of the Year titles. Prior to that, Stoup spent three years as a physical education specialist at Washington Local’s Monac Elementary.

Stoup has been a Fulton County resident his entire life. In fact, he attended Evergreen Local Schools from kindergarten through seventh grade before his family moved to Delta. He is a graduate of Delta High School and an alumni of the University of Toledo.

In addition, his grandmother, Arlene Stoup, served as the secretary of Evergreen’s Fulton Elementary for over 30 years. “My family has always been a member of the green and gold community,” Stoup said.

“As the Evergreen athletic director, I am looking forward to new opportunities and challenges,” Stoup said. “While I have loved being both a teacher and a coach, I am excited to continue building on the rich athletic culture Evergreen is known for while developing new relationships with the Viking community and students.”
