Toledo, OH – Family Service of Northwest Ohio, Four County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services, and Poggemeyer Design Group are happy to announce that the Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit is officially open! The 10 bed unit will operate 24-hours a day/7 days a week/365 days per year and will serve both males and females.

The Adult CSU is an important part of the mental health system in the Four County area and was created as an additional asset to Family Service of Northwest Ohio’s mental health program. The unit will treat clients with crisis stabilization, ambulatory detox, behavioral health assessment and treatment planning. It will also provide psychiatric services and group or individual counseling.

“The Adult CSU will add to the continuum of care provided by the agency. Adults who are in need of short term stabilization for behavioral health issues can be treated locally,” said Kathy Helmke, Director of Four County Family Center and Comprehensive Crisis Care.
Being created within the local area, not only does it allow clients to receive mental health treatment in their own community, it also provides them the opportunity to have more family involvement during their treatments and be closer with their loved ones. Without this new addition, the nearest access for treatment was over 65 miles away.

Family Service of Northwest Ohio is a non-profit agency that empowers families to manage life’s challenges by providing high quality and affordable counseling, home care, outreach, advocacy, prevention education services and comprehensive crisis care to Northwest Ohio Families. Programs and services are funded in part by Four County ADAMHS Board, Lucas County Board of Mental Health & Recovery Services, Wood County ADAMHS Board, the Area Office on Aging, United Ways of Fulton, Defiance and Williams Counties, Department of Jobs & Family Services.
