FAYETTE BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Holds Final Meeting Before The Start Of School

The Fayette Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, August 8th. The board first moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting held on June 27th before hearing reports and updates from school administrators.

The superintendent spoke first and stated that the buildings look good. Additional items discussed included an orientation day for new staff on August 16th, open house for elementary students on August 18th, and the first day of school taking place on August 22nd.

Moving on to financials, the reports for June and July of 2022 were approved as were two donations. The donations were from the Fayette PTO in the amount of $220.93 for student school supplies and from Howard Hannah of Defiance to purchase volleyball t-shirts for team members in the amount of $192.00.

Under agreements and policies, the board moved to approve the following items. An agreement from the Defiance College for hosting Defiance College teacher education candidates beginning July 1, 2022, to June 20, 2023. A one-year agreement with the Village of Fayette to provide an SRO for the district for the 2022-2023 school year.

A one-year agreement with the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center and Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio an education option for FY 2022-2023, with a cost set at $80 a day for students assigned to JDC and $85 per student assigned to JRC. An agreement with Pettisville Local Schools for psychologist services for FY 2022-2023.


The board next moved to approve numerous personnel items. The issue of student transportation was then addressed with the superintendent and or the designee being authorized to make changes as needed during the 2022-2023 school year.

The board then appointed Kirk Keiser as the delegate to the 2022 OSBA Annual meeting for November 14th with Jason Kessler being appointed as alternate.

The meeting was then adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
