(February 12th, 2015) – WEST UNITY: The Lady Eagles of Fayette stepped onto Hilltop’s home court on the hosting school’s Senior Night, determined to play the role of spoiler.

They did just that, defeating the Lady Cadets 56-35.

In the first quarter, the Eagle girls took control of the contest with a 10-4 lead, and never looked back. They were able to tack on 5 more points to their advantage in the second period, outscoring the Hilltop girls 17-12. At halftime, Fayette laid claim to a 27-16 lead.

Coming out in the third period, Fayette put the game out of reach for the girls of West Unity. A 19-7 effort on the part of the visiting Eagles saw to that. The fourth quarter saw the Cadets take the period 12-10, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the sizable deficit in which the Eagles put them.

It was Taylor Griffiths who took over this game, knocking down 5 threes throughout the course of the game. The junior scorer earned 23 points against a solid Hilltop defense. Hannah Machacek hit on a trio of her own three-point attempts on her way to 11 points. Kaela Seiler added 8 points in the victory as well.

Karissa Crisenberry and Allie Schmitt, both juniors, provided most of the scoring for the Cadets. Each girl put up 9 points in the loss. Abby Schaper contributed another 5 points as well.

The victory puts Fayette at 16-3 overall, with a 7-2 record in Buckeye Border Conference play.
