Freddy Armstrong (1937 – 2025)

FAYETTE – Freddy Armstrong, age 87, of Fayette, passed away late Thursday, January 9, 2025, at University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Delta on November 9, 1937, to the late Leo Milton and Irene (Riddle) Armstrong.

Fred attended Gorham-Fayette Schools, graduating in 1955. In 1956, he married Sandra Seeley, and they had three children together. For the last 25 plus years, he has been with his companion, Doris Barker.

Fred worked various construction jobs in his lifetime, building such things as military bases and post offices. He also owned his own plumbing and heating business, and most recently, Armstrong Excavating. He was a farmer his entire life as well, raising his favorite cattle – pure bred Angus.

Fred was a very creative and knowledgeable person. He could fix anything and loved to teach people how to do things. He loved to talk to anyone as he knew no strangers.

Fred was a 20  plus year member of the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department, 60 plus years with the Shriners, and the Masonic Lodge.


Surviving is his partner, Doris Barker; children, Cynthia and Lisa Armstrong; grandchildren, Heath Armstrong, Crystal Winch, and Heather Nosker; great-grandchildren, Carson, Magpie, Jacob, Caroline, Cameron, and Bailey; and sisters, Margare t (Fred) Berg and JoAnn (James) McLaughlin.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory; grandsons, Bradley and Brian Winch; daughter-in-law, Susan Armstrong; and brothers, David and Lamont Armstrong.

Visitation for Fred will be held at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 2:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home, with Rev. William VanValkenburg, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci.


Online condolences to the family may be offered at www.eaglemarryfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions in Fred’s memory may be given to Fayette Fire Association.

The Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette is assisting the family with arrangements.
