(Pioneer, OH) – The search for a missing person in Lake Pioneer has continued since Wednesday evening.  Authorities are hushed on the matter with respect to the surviving family, and The Village Reporter has chosen not to release name(s) until authorities have confirmed all next of kin have been notified.

On Thursday, the newspaper reported:

The Village Reporter has been in contact with the Pioneer Police Department and Williams County Sheriff’s Department. As of the time of writing no calls have been returned.

A short press release, however, has been received from the Pioneer Police Department and is as follows.

“On the evening of 09/18/2024, Pioneer Police Department responded to Lake Pioneer off Lakeshore Drive with regards to a suspected drowning.”

“Upon arrival, it was confirmed by making contact with a male subject who confirmed there was a boating accident which resulted in a drowning. This incident remains under investigation.”

Search and rescue efforts took place throughout the night and as of the late morning hours on Thursday, September 19th, first responder units were searching the lake with recovery gear.

Pioneer Meat Market has been providing a free lunch for search and rescue team members.

Pioneer Police were going door to door at lake homes requesting information. Those who have any information should contact the Pioneer Police Department at 419-737-3129.
