THE VILLAGE REPORTER

With autumn and winter just around the corner, the Montpelier Friends of the Park are getting ready for the holiday season.

The group approved funds for Halloween candy for the community trick or treating and new Christmas displays for Main Street and Municipal parks. The group also helped pay for vouchers for this year’s swimming lessons.

The Friends gave $1,000 from two different funds to the Main Street Park group for candy. Montpelier will celebrate Halloween Oct. 29.

The Friends also used donated funds to purchase a coal car and a passenger car to join the Christmas Train display at Main Street Park, Sandy Gordon said. The group also purchased five lighted snowmen for Municipal Park, she said.

The Friends released $1,005 to the village to pay for vouchers for the Making Waves program. The money was donated by the Eagles to offset the cost of swimming lessons and paid for 67 vouchers valued at $15 apiece.

The village Parks Dept. Is working on two programs for local youth.

The Friends cleaned up several small accounts and placed them in undesignated funds.

The Main Street Park Committee will decorate the park this week.

The Friends group is looking for applicants who would like to join the board. Call Sandy Gordon 419-485-3496.
