PRESS RELEASE – Junior and senior students from several Fulton County school districts will attend a Mock Accident Demonstration on Wednesday, April 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Wauseon, Ohio.
The event is a joint effort involving Wauseon Exempted Village Schools, Delta Local Schools, Evergreen Local Schools, and Pettisville Local Schools. Local emergency responders will also take part, including the Wauseon Fire Department, Metamora Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Police Department, and Wauseon Police Department.
During the demonstration, emergency personnel will respond to a simulated crash scene to show students how first responders handle serious accidents.
The goal is to give students a clearer understanding of the dangers associated with distracted driving and the impact those decisions can have on themselves and others.
Although the scenario represents a serious situation, the demonstration is intended to be educational and preventative.
By seeing the response firsthand, students are encouraged to think about the choices they make when they are driving or riding in a vehicle.
Organizers hope the experience will help reinforce the importance of safe driving habits and encourage students to make responsible decisions that keep themselves and their communities safe.
