Gail E. Gordon (1932 – 2014)

Gail E. Gordon, 82, of Montpelier passed away early Thursday morning at his home. A Montpelier resident since 1949, Gail was born in Paulding County, Ohio on January 13, 1932 to Ernest and Eunice (Miller) Gordon. He graduated from Reading, Michigan High School in 1949. On March 25, 1956 he married Joan M. Mick and she survives.

Gail attended the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier and he was a member of the American Legion Post in Reading, Michigan. Gail started working as a clerk with the Wabash Railroad. He then proudly served his country in the the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After the war he came back to the railroad as a clerk, and retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1987 as the Area Supervisor in the Detroit Division. For the past 20+ years he has worked part time for the Ford Dealership in Montpelier.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan; three sons, David (Debra) Gordon of Bryan, Steven (Karen) Gordon of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Scott (Sandra) Gordon of Montpelier; six grandchildren, Brandon Gordon, Erika Nigam, Danielle Blue, Tyler Gordon, Wesley Christ and Brooke Christ; two great grandchildren Taylor Blue and Evalyn Christ.

Gail was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Vera Strayer, and three brothers, Thomas, Henry and Eugene Gordon.

Donations may be made to Community Health Professionals – Hospice or to the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Condolences can be left online for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
