Gailand A. Woodward (1941-2012)

Gailand A. Woodward, age 71, of Montpelier, Ohio passed away late Thursday November 15, 2012 at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo following a brief illness. Mr. Woodward was retired from the US Navy. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for various Naval based Defense System companies.
Mr. Woodward was born in Napoleon, Ohio on February 5, 1941 the son of the late Glen B. and the late Pauline (Goodwin) Woodward. On October 6, 1962 he married Nonnie Coopman and she survives.
He enjoyed singing and spent many years volunteering at nursing homes singing for the residents. He, also, was active in prison ministry and he and his wife instructed marriage classes for the community at his local church.
Surviving besides his wife, Nonnie are three sons; Allen (Elaine) Woodward of Montpelier, Gailand Woodward, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Joseph (Suzanne) Woodward of Blacksburg, VA and grandchildren; Curtis, Luke, Kara Jo and William. Also surviving are brothers; David, Dean and John Woodward and sisters; Diane McCormick and Melody DeMars. Preceding him in death besides his parents was sister; Janice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Tuesday November 20, 2012 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon from 4:00-8:00pm on Monday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the charity of your choice in his name.
