Gary Hamrick, Sr. (1953 – 2025)

Gary J. Hamrick, Sr., 71, of Montpelier, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in Montpelier. He was born on October 3, 1953 in Huntington, Indiana to Donald and Verna B. (Jacobs) Hamrick.

Gary attended Stryker High School and he honorably served his country in the United States Marines and the United States Army during Vietnam. On October 1, 1999 he married Debbie K. Waldron in Montpelier and she survives.

Gary retired from Chase Brass and Copper in Montpelier after 27 years. He served on the Montpelier and Kunkle-Madison Township Fire Departments for many years and at one time he was an EMT with the Williams County EMS.

Gary attended St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier and was a member of the Montpelier American Legion Post 109 and VFW Post 944 in Montpelier.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Debbie K. Hamrick; children, Gary (Morgan) Hamrick, Jr, Chris Miller, Lisa Miller, Sarah (Jason) Terlosky and Rick (Mary) Miller; 16 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and brother, Rick Hamrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger and Terry Hamrick; infant sisters, Judy and Joyce Hamrick; and two sisters, Garnitta Tross and Jane Gladstone.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Doseck to officiate. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier with military honors being presented by the Montpelier Veterans.

Memorials may be given in Gary’s memory to DAV of Williams County c/o Williams County Veterans Services. Condolences can be left online for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
