Ahhh…perfect weather for this year’s first small town festival of the summer! West Unity’s Gathering was kicked off on Friday evening with the Chicken BBQ, softball tournament, and Miss West Unity pageant. Saturday festivities included the parade that started on Oak St down to Memorial Park where inflatables, food, fun and tractor pulls were held. The sky held a few clouds that provided some sun cover but the temperature was perfect. The pageant winners donned their sashes as they made their way around the park enjoying the festivities and fun, while others enjoyed some food at the Rib-off, or enjoyed a ride in the Legion Riders Poker Run. A girls high school softball tournament ended up changing into a co-ed game for a short while, while there was a 3-point shoot off in the court next to the softball field. Life Flight landed in the field next to the baseball field for a short while until they got called out to an emergency.
The tractors and tractor pulls seem to be an enjoyment by the young and the greater. And everyone seemed to enjoy the first junk food of the summer season with Pences food trucks offering their yummy treats!
Regardless of what the fancy was, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
