George H. Throne, 95 years of Manheim, Pennsylvania, formerly of Alvordton, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Center, Manheim, Pennsylvania. George was born August 26, 1922 in Alvordton, Ohio, the son of the late Harve and Bernice (Clay) Throne. He married Lucille M. Riter on December 24, 1944 in Canton, Ohio and she preceded him in death on October 13, 1988. George later married Renee E. Wampler and moved to Bethel, Pennsylvania. He was a life time farmer living most of his life in Williams County. George worked as a welder and quality controller inspector for Challenge Cook Brothers. George and Lucille enjoyed doing mission work at Torreon Navajo Mission in Cuba, New Mexico. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church where he served as a Deacon and Conservative Baptist Brethren Church after moving to Pennsylvania. In his free time, George enjoyed working outside and spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years, George enjoyed ice skating with Lucille.

Surviving is his wife, Renee E. Throne of Bethel Pennsylvania, four children, Kathy (Arley) Cross of West Unity, Ohio, Danny Throne of Montpelier, Ohio, Martha (Dave) Heer of West Unity, Ohio and Stuart (Kristy) Throne of West Unity, Ohio; son-in-law, Keith Snyder of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; four step-children, Dawn (Justin) Beck of Bethel, Pennsylvania, Kim (Jeff) Aungst of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, Lance Wampler of Irvine, California, and Joel (Lynn) Wampler of Newmanstown, Pennsylvania; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Margaret Snyder; twin brother, John Throne and two sisters, Margaret Rupp and Marie Surbey.

Visitation for George H. Throne will be held Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church, 12091 County Road 16, West Unity with Elder Dennis St. John officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the church.
