Gerald Dean Beevers, Jr., 89, of West End, NC, passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home on Friday, September 8, 2023.

He was a veteran the U.S. Army who proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, most recently Post 7318 in Southern Pines.

He enjoyed fishing playing games on his iPad. He attended First Baptist Church of Pinehurst. Gerald lived most of his life in Ohio before moving to North Carolina in 2019 to be closer to his daughter, Melody.


He was born October 10, 1933, Steuben County, Indiana, to the late Gerald Dean Beevers, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Rose (Fiig) Beevers.

He married Lois Jane Petre on January 12, 1955 in Bryan. Gerald was proceeded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Lois Jane (Petre) Beevers, in February 2019 and his sister, Judy (Beevers) Limpf.

Gerald is survived by his children, Lois Scott, Steve Beevers (Debra), Melody Boyce, and Casandra Benedict; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and his beloved Shih Tzu-poodle, Sassy V.


Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at South Scott Cemetery in Steuben County, Indiana with Pastor Rick Stiver officiating. Military rites will follow and be provided by the US Army Honor Guard and the Edon American Legion Honor Detail.

In lieu of flowers, his family request donations in Gerald’s name be directed to the VFW Post 7318, 615 S. Page St., Southern Pines, NC 28387.
