Gladys M. Bowers-McGowan, 87, of Bryan passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. She was born before breakfast on July 20, 1928 in Jefferson Township, Williams County to Henry Logan and Vera (Johnston) Altaffer.
Gladys was a member of Madison Church of God of Montpelier. She worked as a Press Operator at the Ohio Art Company for more than 43 years, she retired in 1991. In the early 1990’s Gladys co-founded the Williams County Country Gospel Jam at Opdyke Park, which was in existence for over 23 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Lucille (Terry) Ekberg of Fountain Colorado; one step child Jennifer (David) Ross of Bryan; two grandchildren Marc Thomas of Fremont, Indiana and Cindy Hostettler of Fountain Colorado; two great grandchildren Rylan Thomas and Andrew Grisier; two step grandchildren, Andy (Darlene) Doriot and Nick (Kelly) Doriot; six step great grandchildren, Logan, Breanna, Emma, Nico, Jaks and Aeowyn; one brother, Ralph Altaffer of Bryan; one sister Vaneta (Reverend Walter) Hicks of Montpelier; and several nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Robert A. Opdyke, Norman D. Bowers and Lowell W. McGowan, three step children, two brothers Henry and Merle Altaffer and one sister Letha B. Landis.
