Grace L. Williams (1919 – 2016)

grace-l-williamsGrace L. Williams, age 97, of Delta, peacefully passed away Thursday night, November 3, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born at home in Fulton Twp. on March 11, 1919 to the late Clarence F. Willson and Alice (Welch) Willson. She was united in marriage to Donald W. Williams who preceded her in death in 1981.

Grace was a homemaker most of her life, spending time raising their seven children. Grace was a member of the Delta American Legion Auxiliary, Delta Garden Club and Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta; where she helped teach Sunday school and enjoyed spending time with the church ladies sewing beautiful quilts. Grace was a gifted baker and will always be remembered for her unmatched pumpkin pie.

Along with her husband, Donald; she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Ellen Ware; granddaughter, Kelly McKinnell; brother, Lyle E. Willson, sisters, Edith Emans, Carol Owens, Ruth Andre, Mary Jane Bates and an infant sister. Grace is survived by her son, Donald W. Williams Jr. of Maryland; daughters, Carolyn Sue (Jack) Bowerman of Tampa, FL, Patricia Ann (John) Berman of Madison, WI, Martha Jane (Ed) Krammer of Maumee, Kathleen Williams of Temperance, MI and Jackie Lynn (Ted) Riley of Toledo; sisters, Ila Lueck, Wilma Sloan and Beverly Puppos; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; with an American Legion Auxiliary service beginning at 7:30 PM. A funeral service honoring Grace’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 Taylor St., Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastor Eric Markovich will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River rd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 in her name. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
