(Remembering A Lifelong Swanton Resident)
Helen R. Buckenmeyer, age 88, lifelong resident of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee. Helen was born Sept. 15, 1937, in Swanton to Victor and Carrie (Smith) Buckenmeyer.
Helen was a 1955 graduate of Swanton High School and a lifelong member of St. Richard Catholic Parish. She worked 20 years as a secretary and bookkeeper for A&P, and retired from The William Vaughan Company after 30 years.
Helen is survived by her sister-in-law, Joanne Buckenmeyer; 22 nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Carrie Buckenmeyer; sisters, Betty O’Neill, Rita Cunningham and Ruth Hipp; brothers, Dale Buckenmeyer and Glen Buckenmeyer; nephew, Jim Hipp; and niece, Anne Marie Buckenmeyer.
Family and friends may visit Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., with Fr. Eric Culler, presiding.
