VOLLEYBALL

Montpelier 3 Fayette 0

Montpelier moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 25-11, 25-13, 25-10 win at Fayette in the BBC opener for both teams. Kelsie Bumb paced the Locos with 24 assists and four aces while Ariel Page and Chelsea McCord added nine kills apiece. No Fayette stats were reported.

Pettisville 3 Emmanuel Christian 0


Alli King went 23/24 serving (four aces), 25/26 setting with 11 assists, and had 11 kills to lead the Blackbirds to season opening 25-12, 25-8, 25-18 win over Emmanuel Christian. Liz Rochefort added 14 kills for Pettisville (1-0) and Lyla Heising went 10/11 serving (two aces).

Tinora 3 Bryan 0

Gwen Spangler had seven kills and 14 digs as Bryan lost in three sets to Tinora 17-25, 17-25, 16-25 to start the season. Crystal Fillman had 15 assists for the Golden Bears and Jordan Beck tallied eight digs.


Northwood 3 Evergreen 1

The Vikings when the opening set but then dropped the next three as they fell to Northwood in non-league match 25-18, 22-25, 19-25, 25-27. No stats were reported.

Edgerton 3 Delta 1

Sadie Walther racked up 14 kills and Taylor Smith chipped in with a 24/25 (4 aces) serving night and added 20 assists in the four-set win (25-15, 17-25, 25-19, 25-14). No Delta stats were reported.


North Central 3 Stryker 1

The Lady Eagles got their season going with a 25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 win over Stryker in BBC play. Kendal Bonney led the North Central effort with 21 kills, 14 assists, eight digs and Madison Brown added eight kills, 20 assists, and four digs. Sage Woolace tallied 23 digs for the Panthers (1-1, 0-1 in BBC) and Gabby Ramon was 16/20 hitting with four kills.

Swanton 3 Hicksville 2

Swanton dropped the first two sets but fought back to win the last three to pullout a 19-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-13 at Hicksville. Brooke Dockery and Katlyn Floyd were both 13/20 serving for Swanton (2-0), Maddie Smith added 15 kills, and Sofie Taylor registered 46 assists.

Wauseon 3 Fairview 2

Wauseon earned their first win of the season by rallying from a 2-0 deficit to grab a 18-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-10 victory at Fairview. No stats were reported.

BOYS GOLF

North Central 168 Hilltop 191

Mason Sanford paced North Central with a 39 to earn medalist honors in a win over Hilltop at Suburban Golf Course. Zack Hayes and Ben Petit were next for the Eagles as they each shot a 42 and Colin Patten added a 45.

Hilltop was fronted by Jaime Chester and Elijah Kuszmaul with a 44 apiece, Dylan Siebenaler had a 51, and Avrie Johnston shot a 52.

Montpelier 167 Edon (no team score)

Drake Sommer carded a 40 while Jaxson Richmond and Easten Richmond each had 41s to lead Montpelier over Edon, who didn’t have a fourth golfer to record a team score. Thomas Wehrenberger was low score for the Bombers with a 60.

Fayette 222 Holgate 253

Owen Lemley was medalist with a 41 to lead the Eagles to a dual match win at Auglaize Golf Course. Wyatt Mitchell (55), Gavin Stambaugh (62), and Nevaeh Powers (64) rounded out the Fayette total.

BOYS SOCCER

Liberty Center 7 Swanton 0

Liberty Center scored early and often as they started NWOAL play with a 7-0 win at home against Swanton. No stats were reported.

Bryan 3 Archbold 1

Archbold scored at the 39:17 mark of the first half before Bryan scored twice before halftime as they would go on to a 3-1 win. Quinn Brown tallied the first Bryan goal at the 35:38 mark of the first half on an assist by Dylan Koenig and Anthony Tomaszewski scored off another assist by Koenig (10:32) to give Bryan a 2-1 halftime lead.

Brown closed out the scoring with 30:20 left in the match when he drove home a penalty kick to make it 3-1.

Delta 3 Evergreen 2

After falling behind 2-1, Delta scored the final two goals of the match to get the win over the Vikings in their NWOAL opener. No stats were reported.

Wauseon 9 Otsego 0

Eli Delgado scored four goals and Braden Vajen added three to lead Wauseon (2-0) in a 9-0 shutout of Otsego. Delgado and Vajen also each registered two assists for the Indians.

GIRLS SOCCER

Bryan 3 Lima Shawnee 2

After surrendering a 2-0 lead, the Lady Bears scored late in the second half to lift them to a 3-2 win. Addie Arnold would score her first career goal and Allie Zimmerman scored on a crossing pass from Ella Rau to give Bryan (3-0) a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

After Shawnee rallied to tie the match 2-2, Bryan got the game winner as a Zimmerman free kick was headed home by Kailee Thiel to break the tie.
