PRESS RELEASE -The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an injury crash involving a juvenile. The crash was reported on March 01, 2026, at approximately 1:41 p.m., at the intersection of Fostoria Road and Genoa Road, in Lake Township, Wood County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Eddie Hernandez, 75 years of age, of Port Clinton, was traveling west on Genoa Road.
A Dodge Ram, operated by a juvenile, of Walbridge, was traveling south on Fostoria Road. The Ram failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by the Silverado.
Mr. Hernandez sustained minor injuries. Cheryl Smith, 59 years of age, of Port Clinton, was a front seat passenger of the Silverado. Mrs. Smith sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Both occupants of the Silverado were transported to Saint Vincent Medical Center.
The juvenile driver of the Ram sustained minor injuries. A juvenile front seat passenger of the Ram, of Millbury, sustained minor injuries. Both occupants of the Ram were transported to Bay Park Hospital.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Lake Township Police Department, Lake Township Fire & EMS, Bubba’s Towing and Recovery, and Greer Automotive and Towing.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to obey all traffic signs and signals. This crash remains under investigation.
