Alora Siegel a Hilltop 8th grader will be considered to attend the National Science Fair in Washington D.C. Alora is the daughter of Matt and Ashley Siegel and older sister to her bother Lakota and sister Zia.
She is a member of the FFA and 4H. She is also active on a robotics team and volleyball team. Alora’s project is titled ‘Which Welding Process Most Accurately Represents Filler Material Specifications’.
Alora found her interest in welding 3 years ago at STEM Camp. She did a welding competition in 4H and won 1st place in stick welding.
Since then she has loved welding and has continued to do it. Alora did all of her testing at a machine shop at her home then took the welds to TruFast in Bryan where her father works to test the tensile strength.
She determined that tig welding worked the best. Although her testing only took days, her research took her months. Alora won her local Science Fair with 1st place.
She placed Top 4 in regional science fair and took home 3 sponsored awards. She also won Districts Agri-Science Fair 1st place, and received 2 sponsored awards at Districts Science Fair.
She was then asked to apply to the National Science Fair by the Regional Science Fair Director. She has also applied for the State Agri-Science Fair at the end of April as well. She will be attending the State Science Fair in Columbus on May 9th
