MILL …
By October 1911, John William Russell operated a steam-powered mill in this wooden frame structure on the north side of Bryan’s East Wilson Street between Walnut and Cherry streets.
The mill produced livestock feed and flour, and Russell also sold coal. In 1920, J. W. Russell completed a three-story brick mill building on the southwest corner of Mulberry and Garden streets next to the Cincinnati Northern Railroad.
Russell operated the business until 1944, when he moved to Pioneer. The former mill building still occupies the site.
This colorized vintage image of Russell’s Mill on East Wilson Street is from the Williams County Public Library Huffman Photographic Archives.
