James D. Kasper (1931-2013)

Top  webJames D. Kasper, 81, of Montpelier died Thursday, March 21st at the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan. He was born on August 8, 1931 in Swanton Ohio to Fred H. and Mildred E. (Snyder) Kasper. Jim graduated from Swanton High School in 1949. He was drafted into the Marines and served his country during the Korean War. On April 24, 1954 he married Jill Ann Loghry and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2008.

Jim retired in 1997 from Powers and Sons as a maintenance supervisor after approximately 10 years of employment. Prior to that Jim worked for Terumo Medical Corporation formerly Owens Illinois and Libbey Glass. For 18 years he owned and operated the Lit’l Sky Orchard at his home on County Road K.

Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier. He was also a member of the Montpelier Moose and the Montpelier Eagles.

He is survived by three sons Michael (Barb) Kasper of Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania, Craig (Judy) Kasper of Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania, James (Doris) Kasper of Burton, Ohio; two daughters Sue (Mike) McQuerrey of Elkton, Maryland and Jeanine (Phil) Whittington of Bryan, Ohio; three brothers Pete, George and Larry Kasper; two sisters Judy Smith and Janet Federle; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jill, three brothers Fritz, Frank and Jack Kasper; and two sisters Anna Rose Brenner and Helen Kasper.

Per Jim’s request his body was donated to medical science. His cremains will be interred next to his mother at Marygrove Cemetery Raab Corners Lucas County Ohio. Condolences may be sent online to www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com
