James Kelly “Jim” Grieser, age 80, of Wauseon, passed away peacefully at CHP Hospice on Monday, January 16, 2023.

He was born on December 2, 1942 to Howard and Lavina (Merillat) Grieser in Wauseon, Ohio.

Jim was a graduate of Wauseon High School, Class of 1962 and later in life he received his pilot and pilot inspector licenses. Jim owned and operated Grieser & Son Tool and Die, Inc. for over 40 years.

Jim’s parents owned what is known as, “Grieser Airport” – land and airplane hanger for private planes to land, take-off and store.


He learned the trade of being an airplane mechanic from his parents.

Jim’s passion for planes was important to him however his 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren were his ultimate his pride and joy.

He was a very proud father to his 5 children and a loving and supportive husband to his wife, Rosalynn.


Jim was a member of First Church of God for over 50 years where he was involved with many Mission trips to Central America, Texas, New Mexico and various other church groups and Mission activities.

Jim was a hard-working, simple man who cared deeply for his family and the Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosalynn (Wood) Grieser; children, Connie (Dean) Steele, Daniel Grieser, Christine (Chad) Hayward, Janet (Michael) Barber and Cheryl Praznovsky; grandchildren, Damien (Amber) Hayward, Dillon Hayward, Hannah (Drew) Fischer, Rebekah (Michael) Ater, Jacob Steele, Reagan Steele, Alexandra Barber, Caitlyn Barber, Taylor Barber, Nicholas Grieser, Samantha (Liam) Campbell; 8 great-grandchildren, Cooper and Iyla Fischer, Charlotte Ater, Colson, Samuel and Brantley Campbell and Brecklyn Mengini, and Dante Grieser; sisters, Letty (Robert) Mason and Jane (Mike) Jones and brother, Richard (Jeanne) Grieser.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Grieser.


The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4-8:00 p.m. at First Church of God, 507 N. Fulton St., Wauseon, Ohio with additional visitation on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 10 – 11:00 a.m. in the church, with Jim’s Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of God with Pastor Mike Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery (CR 11).

Memorial Contributions may be made to First Church of God.
