James L. Buehrer (1936 – 2017)

James L. Buehrer, 80 years, of Alvordton, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 in his residence with his family at his side. Jim was born September 19, 1936 in Fulton County, Ohio, the son of the late Edwin and Celia (Leatherman) Buehrer. He was a 1954 graduate of Archbold High School. He married Sharon L. Mull on January 20, 1963 in Archbold. Jim was a lifelong farmer until his retirement in 2005. He also worked as a security guard after his retirement. Jim was a past member of the National Guard. He was a member of the Stryker United Brethren Church.

Jim enjoyed reading, spending time with his family and watching western movies on television.

Surviving is his wife Sharon of Alvordton; one son, Stephen M. Buehrer of Alvordton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael J. Buehrer; two brothers, Herbert Buehrer and Donald Buehrer.

Visitation for James L. Buehrer will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. A Memorial service for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Stryker United Brethren Church, 104 East Short Street, Stryker with Pastor Nick Woodall officiating.


Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Stryker United Brethren Church or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
