Storrer, 91, of Montpelier passed away early Tuesday morning at Genesis Healthcare Bryan Center.  She was born on February 12, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to Cecil Douglas and Grace (Nugent) Grimes.  Jane graduated from Montpelier High School in 1943.  On June 23, 1946 she married Robert A. Storrer in Montpelier and he survives.

Jane was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier.  She was a member of the church choir, Rebekah’s Circle and former treasurer of the Women’s Association.  After graduating high school Jane worked as a Montpelier telephone operator.  Then when Robert was in school she worked as a long distance operator in Bowling Green for 2 years.  After the kids were raised Jane went back to work at Allen’s Bakery in Montpelier for a number of years.  Jane was an excellent baker and cook.  At one time she active in a bowling league, she enjoyed playing tennis, golf and bridge.   She loved to play games and cards with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert; children John (Cindy) Storrer of New Bremen, Ohio, Julie (John) Trautman of Bryan, Ohio and Dave (Julie) Storrer of Wauseon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Michael Storrer, Joshua Storrer, Bart Storrer, Sarah Tangeman, Kyle Storrer and Hannah Weideman; and seven great grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, William and Frnak Grimes.


Visitation for Jane will be on Thursday, September 30th from 2-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier.  Services will be on Friday at 4pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier with Reverend David Tilly to officiate, followed by a funeral dinner at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Genesis Healthcare Activity Fund.  Condolences can be left at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com
