Jannell “Jan” D. Fortney, 64, of Toledo and formerly of the Hicksville and Paulding County area, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee on Wednesday, January 6th 2021. She was born on May 31, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Daniel Charles and Delores Lucille (Ginther) Fortney.
Jan graduated from Hicksville High School in 1974. For several years she worked in the wine and cheese department at Chief in Defiance. Jan loved to make chocolate candies.
Jan is survived by her daughters Amber Fortney of Toledo and Dayna (Aaron) Kirk of Montpelier; grandchildren Max and Lyla Kirk and Allisen Cooper and a brother Lonnie Fortney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, love of her life and fiancé Darrell Cottrell in 2003, one brother Bob Millhoff and one stillborn sister Deborah Fortney.
There will be no services for Jan. Memorial contributions may be given to the Thompson Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
