Jean Marie Scribner, 84 years, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jean was born on October 18, 1931, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of the late Francis and Hildred (Hall) Schweitzer. She was a 1950 graduate of Bryan High School. Jean married John E. Scribner Jr. on August 26, 1952, in Bryan, Ohio and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1969.

Jean worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bryan Hillside Country Living and at the former Bryan Nursing Care. She also worked in the billing department at Bryan Hospital and at ARO Credit Union. Jean was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. In her free time she enjoyed cross stitching and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her eight children, John F. (Candy) Scribner of Bryan, Dan M. (Ann) Scribner of Defiance, Michael R. (Julie) Scribner of Bryan, Richard C. (Cindy) Scribner of West Unity, Thomas J Scribner of Montpelier, Pam J. (Ken) Freeman of Bryan, Kathey J. Scribner of Bryan, and Amy J. Scribner of Lake Seneca; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Norma Phipps, Mary Hinkle, and one brother, James Schweitzer.

There will not be any visitation and graveside will be private. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the Share Foundation of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, 433 West High Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
