Joann Maneval (1934 – 2018)

Joann B. Maneval, 83 years, of West Unity, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Joann was born October 19, 1934 in Delta, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold C. and Iola (Metcalf) Skates. She married Donald Loar on February 12, 1950 and the marriage ended in divorce.  She then married Francisco Aquirre on June 27, 1974 and he preceded her in death. Joann married William J. “Bill” Maneval on August 12, 2005 in West Unity, Ohio and he survives. Joann worked as a sales clerk for Tony’s Pet Shop in Wauseon, Ohio for 17 years. She also worked at Sauder Village as a costume interpreter, retiring in 2007. Joann attended West Unity United Methodist Church. In her free time, Joann enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling. She especially cherished the time she spent with family and friends.

Surviving is her husband, William “Bill” Maneval of West Unity, Ohio; four children, Lynn A. Galbraith of Delta, Ohio, Bradley S. (Valenda) Loar of Bloomington, Indiana, Teri J. (David) Bistline of West Unity, and Robin S. (Raymond) Reynolds of Archbold, Ohio; four stepchildren, Karen Maneval of Knoxville, Tennessee, William “Andy” (Stormie) Maneval of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert H. (Crystal) Maneval of West Unity, Ohio and Suellen (David) Barnum of West Unity, Ohio, 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Karen Irelan of Delta, Ohio, and Barbara Long of Delta, Ohio; three brothers, Larrie (Jean) Skates of Leesburg, Florida, Howard (Sandy) Skates of Wauseon, Ohio and Tony (Mary) Skates of Wauseon, Ohio. Joann was preceded in death by her parents; one great grandson, Clinton Loar; sister, Alice Wilson, and two brothers, Norman Skates and Francis Skates.

To honor Joann’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, 6817 State Route 66 North, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
