John KurivialJohn Joseph Kurivial, age 88, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday afternoon, September 9, 2015.  He was born March 12, 1927 in Napoleon, Ohio to John and Anna (Jurasek) Kurivial.  After graduation, John was drafted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.  On November 12, 1955, he married his beloved wife, Doris Ann Vavrik.

John was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton.  He enjoyed helping his son, John, farm the family homestead in Swanton.

John will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Ann; children, Leslie (Tom) Young, Ann (Donald) Smith, John C. (Susan) Kurivial, Mary (Jamal) Fakih and Steven (Tryphena) Kurivial; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Emilie Karafit.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna, and sister, Anna Samuhel.

The family will receive guests Saturday, September 12th from 12:00 (Noon) to 2:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.
