Joseph J Couts 83, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday December 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at Mercy St Vincent’s Hospital.

Joe was born to Bayard and Ethel (Tallmadge) Couts November 26, 1939. He was one of 10 children.

He married Barbara Ann Barnes April 16, 1965 after his service in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Together with their 2 daughters they started their life in Wauseon. Joe began his job at General Motors in Defiance where he operated a crane. He also ran a bicycle repair shop out of his garage until his retirement.

After raising 5 daughters, Joe and Barb spent time sharing woodworking projects at craft shows and they loved spending time with their family.

Joe was a proud man, proud of his accomplishments and proud of his daughters and the life he had and the people he helped along the way.

Preceding Joe in death were his parents and all but 2 of his sisters, Helen and Velmetta. Surviving Joe are his wife of 57 1/2 years, Barbara, his daughters Angie (Buck) McGee, Terry Couts, Shawn (Troy) Najarian, Melony (Michael) Carroll, Michala (Brian) Riegsecker and granddaughters Montana Carroll, Brynne (Blake) Bruner and Brylee Jo Riegecker and grandsons Bill Wilson, Jay Mulligan and Nick Witte.

He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

Visitation for Joe will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 P.M., also in the funeral  home, with Pastor Michael Doerr, officiating. Military services be accorded by the Fulton County Honor Guard.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
