Larry Chamberlin (1937 – 2024)

(Longtime Resident Of Delta)

Larry Max Chamberlin, age 87, a longtime resident of Delta passed away at Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings in Sylvania the evening of December 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 5, 1937, to the late Andrew P. and Mildred E. (Dailey) Chamberlin at his Delta childhood home.

Larry graduated from Delta High School in 1955 and immediately after high school he went to Great Lakes Naval Training Center for boot camp and served from 1955 to 1958.


On August 17, 1955 he married Joyce E. Shipman who survives. He owned and operated Chamberlin Insurance in Delta and Holland from 1970 to 1990, serving the community for over 20 years.

While still in the insurance field, Larry was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #18 and Local #3. He was an active member of his community serving wherever he could, taking pride in the Delta American Legion Buckeye Boys State, a past Master of the Masonic Fulton Lodge in Delta, a member of the Delta Community Fire Station, serving on Delta Village Council, members of both the Delta Eagles and Elks.

Larry also was named as the Grand Marshall for the Delta Chicken Festival. When life took him to Reno, Nevada, he was also a member of the Kerak Shrine Temple.


Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Joyce E. Chamberlin; children, Scott (Janis) Chamberlin of Delta, Annette Chamberlin of Wauseon, Andrew (Michele) Chamberlin of Sylvania, Angela (Gary) Chamberlin of Indianapolis, IN and Michael (Dani) Chamberlin of Virginia; grandchildren, Jeremy (Wendy) Chamberlin, Zachary (Alyssa) Chamberlin, Ian (Alex) Chamberlin, Seth Chamberlin; grandson-in-law, Justin Komisarek; great grandchildren, Brianna Komisarek, Hunter Komisarek, Grayson Chamberlin and Emma Chamberlin.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leo Chamberlin; sisters, Betty Gearhart and Carol Lear and granddaughter, Tamra Komisarek in 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton with Father Eric J. Culler officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta with military rites provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to direct memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 or Shriners Children’s Hospital, P.O Box 947765, Atlanta, Georgia 30394 in Larry’s memory.
