LaVerne (Vernie) Robertson was born to Robert and Loretta Wright in Cleveland, Ohio on August 10th 1952.
She spent the majority of her life in Ohio and Florida. Vernie passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 16th, 2024.
Vernie was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Kenny and Robert Wright; her sisters, Lori Kasser and Ruthie Reliford; and her great-granddaughter, Mellodi March.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Robertson; her children, Teresa Whitlock and Matthew Gentit; her grandchildren, Katelyn (Michael) March, Jalen (Nikki) Gentit, Maticyn Gentit (Omar), Braden Whitlock, Brennan Gentit, and Trey Gentit. She is also survived by her nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Vernie had a deep love for her family, including her many fur-babies over the years. She enjoyed long phone conversations with loved ones and took great pleasure in looking at pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vernie also loved visiting the zoo with her husband. Her children shared her sense of humor and they cherished the moments spent laughing and smiling together. A lifelong animal lover, Vernie also had a special fondness for the color purple.
Vernie’s strong faith in God was a guiding force in her life. Her favorite Bible verse was Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Though she will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort knowing that she is now at peace in Heaven, surrounded by love.
