Leroy G. Rininger, 76, of Camden passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at MacRitchie Rehab Center in Hillsdale, Michigan. He was born on August 25, 1947 in Bryan, Ohio to Rex J. and Grace M. (Sommers) Rininger.

Leroy graduated from Waldron High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.

On July 17, 1971 he married Betty L. McKimmy at Manitou Beach, Michigan and she survives. Leroy was a member of the Waldron Post 5191 VFW, and at one time served as the Quartermaster.

He was also an American Legion Rider, Post 669, in West Unity and a member of the Montpelier Moose, since 1972.

Friendships and community were very important to Leroy. He volunteered his time to the VFW, especially for the annual Labor Day fundraisers. Leroy also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and meeting with friends at Spoke’s Restaurant in Pioneer for breakfast.

He will always be remembered for his commitment to Betty, his children, and grandchildren, being a friend to all that he met.

Leroy was pleased to be a part of the Flag City Honor Flight in September 2023, to Washington D.C. In 2014, he retired from Powers and Sons in Montpelier, as a truck driver, after 45 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; children Gary L. Rininger of Payne, Ohio, Dayna (Scott) Noble of Bryan, Ohio and Heidi (Clint) Kutzley of Tecumseh, Michigan; grandchildren Reba (Jared) Penick, Gregory (Whitlee) Rininger, Natalie Noble, Tara Noble and Grant Kutzley; great grandchildren Dakotah, Avery, James and Mallory Penick; and sister Belinda (Charles) Campanella of Camden, Michigan.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Masters, brother Deane Rininger and grandchild William Noble.

Visitation for Leroy will be on Thursday, February 22nd from 2-7pm at the Thompson Pioneer Funeral Home in Pioneer. Services will be on Friday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Kim Repp to officiate. Interment will follow at Lickley Cemetery in Wright Township, Michigan, with Military Honors provided by the Pioneer Veterans.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Waldron VFW post 5191 or the American Legion Riders, Post 669. Condolences can be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
