Lois Martenies (1936-2018)

Lois A. Martenies, age 82, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:30 P.M. on Monday, September, 24, 2018, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio after a brief illness.

Mrs. Martenies had been employed as a nurses aide, and at various manufacturing facilities during her work career. She was a avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and working word search puzzles. She also collected bells and salt and pepper shakers and was a former member of the DAR, and VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.

Lois A. Martenies was born on February 23, 1936, in Fremont, Indiana, the daughter of Ira and Ruby (Thompson) Clark. She married Raymond L. Martenies, Sr. on June 19, 1954, in Camden, Michigan and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2002.

Survivors include her children, Robin H. (Craig) Pessefall, of Sherwood, Ohio, R. Steven Martenies, of Fayette, Ohio, Ricky (Sindie) Martenies, of Edgerton, Rosalind Martin, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rodney J. Martenies, of Metz, Indiana and Royce (Candius) Martenies, of Edon, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Vanice Martenies, of Antwerp, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by one son, Raymond L. Martenies, Jr.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters.


Services have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton with private family service to held at a later date. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
