Marcella May (Engler) Coopshaw, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep January 13, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Winter Haven, Florida. She was born May 4, 1924 in Holgate, Ohio the child of Amos and Bessie Engler. Marcella graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1946. On March 28, 1948 she married her best friend, Michael Coopshaw who preceded her in death in 2014.

Marcella began her working career with Bohn Aluminum and Brass Corporation in Detroit, Michigan before coming home to start a family. She often spoke of those exciting times and big city life in Detroit, but always knew her heart was with her family in Fulton County.

Marcella also worked at Perfection Finishing in Wauseon. After her retirement she enjoyed cooking at Oak Shade Raceway. She was an active member of the Czech Dancer’s Polka Club, avid gardener and coin collector. She had a dry sense of humor and when she laughed you knew it was real. She was known for always wearing bright, sunny colored clothes and layering her look with many pieces of her beautiful jewelry. Marcella was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family whom she adored. The greatest joy in her life was her husband Mike.

She and Mike camped their way across the United States and in 1985 began to winter in Florida at LeLynn Resort in Polk County. Florida life brought her flea market finds, riverboat gambling and travelling with her snowbird friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Audrey (Engler) Colman, her husband of 68 years Michael and her grandson Jeff Huffman.

Survivors include her loving children Sharon (Edward) Cook of Lyons, Kenneth Coopshaw of Wauseon, Larry (Barbara) Coopshaw of Delta, Linda (Blaine) York of Wauseon and Ricky (Elaine) Coopshaw of Wauseon.

She took great pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren, Jeff Huffman (dec.), Jamie Huffman, Jodi (Huffman) Ordway, Chad and Timothy Coopshaw,
Lisa (York) Andrist and Jeremy York, and Charles Parkes and Erin (Parkes) Raker. She also leaves behind 25 great grandchildren to remember her and celebrate her life.

We know Marcella and Mike are waltzing across heaven. We are so sad to see this whirlwind of life taken from us, but we are happy that her heart is no longer broken.

Visitation will be held at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Sunday, January 17 from 3-8pm where services will be held on Monday, January 18th at 11am. Burial will be at Winameg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cherry Street Mission or Camp Palmer. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.GrisierFH.com
