A graduate of The Ohio State University as well as the Air Force Institute of Technology, he was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Penfield, New York since 1964. Prior to this he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, Ohio. Marvin enjoyed speaking in Low German with his Ohio relatives, and in his younger days, polka dancing.

Surviving is his wife, Ruth (Ricker) Behnfeldt of Webster, New York; three children, Daniel Behnfeldt, Carla Behnfeldt and Stephen (Gina) Behnfeldt; two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Juliet Behnfeldt; one sister, Arlene Goshia of Bryan, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are to consider memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church, 09088 Openlander Road, Sherwood, Ohio 43556.
