Mary Louise (Elton) Doren went home to God early Thursday morning, November 21, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Her final moments were spent peacefully surrounded by family.
Known for her delicious homemade cooking and love of caregiving, Mary Louise will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mary’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Mary Louise was born in Toledo, OH on October 28, 1946. A lifelong resident of Swanton, Ohio, she attended and graduated from Swanton High School in 1964.
She worked her way up from cafeteria cook to Food Service Director for Swanton Local Schools. After retirement, she became a vital employee of Church Women United Thrift Shop on Crissey Road.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood Frank Elton and Crystal Mackay (Underwood) Elton, and beloved sister, Barbara Jean (Elton) Reliford.
Mary is survived by her four children, Jeffrey (Bonny), Jennifer Hutchison (Jon), and twins Jared and Jason, grandchildren Cole (Kristen), twins Lane and Callie, Zane, Luke (Aubrey), and great grandchildren Lincoln and Violet; her beloved sister LuAnn (Elton) Foster, her “special” sister Rebecca Dunkle, nieces, nephews, and many other family members.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St. in Swanton, Ohio, where services will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jeff Boze officiating.
Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary. Monetary donations may be made in her memory to Church Women United Thrift Shop, PO Box 366, Holland, OH 43528.
