The Village of Metamora continued its Christmas season tradition with the annual Parade of Lights on Sunday, December 14, with the event beginning at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Metamora.
The parade featured participation from Evergreen Schools, including the Evergreen High School Marching Band, which helped bring holiday music through the village as illuminated entries made their way along the route. Residents and visitors lined the streets for the parade, while children waited eagerly as candy was handed out along the way.
The Evergreen Young Vikings Choir was originally scheduled to perform prior to the parade, but cold temperatures led to a change in plans, with the choir set to perform following the parade at the Metamora Amboy Fire Department.
Following the conclusion of the parade, families were invited to the fire station, where Santa Claus greeted children and posed for photos. The gathering allowed residents to warm up indoors while continuing to enjoy the evening’s holiday festivities.
Despite the cold weather, the annual Parade of Lights once again brought the community together, continuing a long-standing Metamora tradition and celebrating the Christmas season.
