MILLCREEK-WEST UNITY BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Reviews Curriculum, Approves Forecast & Contracts

The Millcreek-West Unity Board of Education met on May 12, 2025, led by President Heather Jones. Members Brian Wieland, Dave Chester, and Randy Mahlman attended; Dawn Layman was absent.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Superintendent Riley shared minutes from the March 11 Business Advisory Council meeting, and building principals gave school updates.

Board members approved the April 2025 meeting minutes, financial statements, investment records, and the updated Five-Year Forecast for Fiscal Year 2025.

They also approved substitute teachers, supplemental contracts, and employment for Jen Yoh for the 2024-2025 school year.


Eric Cooper’s resignation as high school band director was accepted, effective July 31, 2025. Several staff were approved for college course reimbursements.

Two school curriculums for 2024-2026 and Junior High/High School book and lab fees were approved. Donations were received, including a book for the school library and contributions to FFA.

Meal prices for 2025-2026 were set: $2.95 for K–6 lunch, $3.25 for grades 7–12, $4.30 for adults, $2.25 for student breakfast, $2.75 for adult breakfast, and $0.60 per milk. Reduced pricing remains at $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch.


Agreements with NwOESC and A & G Education Services LLC for mentor services and special education programming were approved.

An executive session was held at 6:15 p.m. for property matters, with the board reconvening and adjourning at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be June 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the school library.
