The Millcreek-West Unity Board of Education convened for its regular meeting on July 8, at 7:00 a.m., with a full agenda of items ranging from administrative updates to new staff hires. The session began with routine approvals, including the agenda and prior meeting minutes.

Traci Thompson, Treasurer, presented the monthly financial reports, which included routine updates and a review of revenues. The board examined current expenditures, revenue figures, and fund balances.

A blanket purchase order was approved for Thiel Oil Co., US Bank, Toledo Edison, SUT Holdings, and Gordon for the upcoming school year.

Personnel topics played a central role in Superintendent Steven Riley’s, report. After several salary advancements for current staff, the board approved the employment of a new band teacher. Ian Bunt, Band Director, as well as the Marching/Pep Band Director, is set to begin teaching in the 2025-2026 school year.

Philip N. Grime, Art Teacher with ten years of experience, was also approved to start in the upcoming school year.

With no further business to attend to, the board ended their short, preliminary meeting in preparation for the approaching school year. The next Millcreek-West Unity School Board meeting is scheduled for August 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s library.
