September 2nd-MONTPELIER: With the Eagles of North Central coming into town, the Lady Locomotives were ready.
Despite a valiant effort by the visiting Lady Eagles, it took Montpelier only three sets to earn the victory. Game 1 was controlled by the Lady Locos, who took the set 25-13. Capitalizing on the early momentum, Montpelier came out strong in the second set and never looked back, winning the game 25-7. North Central tried to rally in game 3, but just couldn’t get anything going. They dropped the set 11-25.
Hannah Blake was dominant on the court for the Locomotives, hitting 16 of 17 attacks with 10 kills, as well as 10 assists, 4 digs, and 3 blocks. Christy Duchene added 14 digs and 6 aces to the Montpelier cause. Landri McKelvey also served up 6 aces, but it was her 17 assists that really helped propel the Locos to the win. Sidney Houk contributed 11 digs, 8 kills, and 4 aces to the victory as well.
Alyssa Swank led the North Central effort, nailing 6 serves and 7 passes. Teammate Keeley Shaw also hit 7 passes. Cady VanDaVoorde made 3 kills for the Eagles.
