Montpelier’s 2013 Fall Homecoming Court Announced

With Montpelier High School’s Homecoming Football game and festivities fast approaching, the nominations for the Homecoming Queen and court have been announced and one of three seniors will be named to reign as Queen just prior to the start of the October 4 game against Archbold. The senior girls named to be chosen from are Jessy Duchene, Amber Cooley, and Hannah Jenkins.

Jessy Duchene is the daughter of Bob and Tammy Duchene. She will be escorted by Zack Murray, the son of Jamie Taylor and Wayne Murray, and Seth Ries, the son of Charles and Shannon Ries. Jessy has four sisters: Kelly Duchene, Wendy Duchene, Christy Duchene, and Hannah Fischer and is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jessy’s school activities include playing guitar, volleyball, softball, and being active with the student council.

Jessy is also the National Honor Society President. Outside of school Jessy enjoys babysitting, house renovation, and spending time with her family. Jessy’s future plans are to attend Northwest State Community College and Defiance College, where she will major in nursing.


Amber Cooley is the daughter of Troy and Cyndi Cooley. She will be escorted by Levi Croft, the son of Sam and Rachelle Croft, and Brandon (working to obtain rest of information). Amber has one older sister, Kelsey Sparks, one younger sister, Lauren Cooley, one younger brother, Stephan Cooley, and daughter Kinley Martinez. Amber is a member of Life Changing Realities and works at Miller’s New Market. Amber enjoys shopping, outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends and notes that her favorite thing to is “spend time with Kinley”. In the future Amber plans on going to Northwest State Community College for Early Childhood Education and would like to teach young children or work in a daycare in the future.

Hannah Jenkins is the daughter of Kim Jenkins and Jeremy Fraley. She will be escorted by Nate Buehrer, the son of Dave Buehrer and Laura Beck, and Keegan Hitzeman, the son of Wendy Stahlor. Hannah has two younger sisters, Emma Jenkins and Amber Jenkins, and two cats, Kitty and Kit Kat. Hannah participates in cross country, cheerleading, track, and student council. Outside of school Hannah works at Miller’s New Market and enjoys listening to music, shopping, going to the movies, and running. In the future Hannah would like to attend Trine University to become an Elementary teacher and to be part of Trine’s dance team. She hopes to become a cheer coach in the future as well.

The Freshman Attendant of the ceremony will be Meili Leung. Meili is the daughter of Harry and Sherri Leung. She will be escorted by Michael Blake, the son of Joe and Midge Blake, and Bryce Cooley, the son of Brian and Bess Cooley. Meili has three brothers, Jacob Leung, Kobe Leung, and Josh Manley. Meili is a member of First United Methodist Church. She participates in basketball, track, band, choir, Locomotion, and jazz band. She is also the President of Spanish Club and Freshman Class President. Outside of school Meili babysits, listens to music, spends time with her friends, and helps people dealing with depression. In the future Meili would like to go to a large college such as The Ohio State University for optometry and to be in the marching band. She would also like to get married and raise a family with three children.


The Sophomore Attendant will be Hannah Blake. Hannah is the daughter of Joe and Midge Blake. She will be escorted by Jordan Birdsall, the son of Tammy Bump and Dave Birdsall, and Simon Wang, the son of Sue Wang. Hannah has one brother, Michael Blake, and one sister, Kelly Blake. Hannah is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and participates in volleyball, basketball, track, Locomotion, and the Federation of Christian Athletes.

Hanna is also the Sophomore Class Treasurer. Outside of school Hannah enjoys playing the ukulele and bonfires with her friends. Hannah knows that she plans to go to college in the future but is undecided as to what her career choice will be.

The Junior Attendant will be Marisa Hillard. Marisa is the daughter of Matthew Hillard and the late Nicole Hillard. She will be escorted by Devin Nemire, the son of Shane and Terri Sue Nemire, and Jared Lyons, the son of Chad and Kim Lyons. Marisa has four brothers: Jacob, a freshman, Scottie, a fourth grader, Cedric, a second grader, and eighteen month old Liam. Marisa is a member of the Montpelier Church of Christ. She participates in football and basketball varsity cheerleading, volleyball, softball, student council, quiz bowl, and science Olympiad. Outside of school Hannah works at Rowe’s Recreation and enjoys tumbling, girls’ nights and Taco Bell runs with her best friends, and “jammin’ out” with her dad. In the future Hannah intends to attend The Ohio State University to study in the medical field and to become a Buckeye cheerleader. She hopes to work someday as a pediatrician.
