FUTURE LADY COUGAR … Montpelier senior track and field standout Bria Friend (front row, center) signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, March 11 to continue her education and track and field career with Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. She will be competing in sprints and jumps at Spring Arbor and will be participating in the Honors Program majoring in secondary English education. During her high school career, she was a three-time state qualifier. Last year she earned All-Ohio honors, placing fourth in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash. She also holds two individual school records in the 100 (12.25 seconds) and the long jump (16-8 ½) and was a part of two record-setting relay teams in the 400 (50.13) and 800 (1:44.33).
