North Central Tops Edon In Overtime

NORTH CENTRAL 1/10/2014—It took an extra period, but the Lady Eagles of North Central were able to take down the Edon Lady Bombers 41-37.

The first quarter was a low scoring one for both squads, as a total of only 12 combined points were scored. North Central held a slim 7-5 lead as the first quarter came to a close.

The Eagles would extend this lead in the second quarter, but the Bombers would make sure that they did not fall too far behind. At the intermission, the scoreboard read 19-15, with North Central in control.

Both team’s defenses stepped up in the third quarter. Edon was able to win the third quarter by a score of 5-2, narrowing the Eagle lead to only one point as the third quarter ended. The Eagle’s held a 21-20 lead.


The fourth quarter saw the Bombers again outscore North Central, this time 11-10, which would tie the game up at the end of regulation, and send the contest in to overtime.

After battling back to tie the contest, Edon would not be able to capitalize in the extra period, and North Central would pull away, sealing a 41-37 win.

Rhinard lead the Eagles in scoring with nine points, Siekmeyer had eight, Hayes put up seven, Vandevorde was next with six, Litzenberg scored five, and Oxender finished with two points.


For Edon, Kiess lead the way with 18, Chrisman followed with five, Gutting and Sonneberger had four a piece, Gearhart contributed three, S. Manahan had two, K. Manahan rounded out the scoring for the Bombers with one.
