STRYKER – The North Central Varsity Golf Team had their highest finish ever at the Stryker Invitational on September 8th when they captured second place.  The Eagles score of 316 for the 18-hole contest was not enough to overcome the Wauseon Indians who won the title with a score of 308 in the 16 team event.

Wauseon was led by Clay Tefft’s score of 75 that was good enough for third place and a spot on the All-Tournament Team.  Joining Tefft on the All-Tourney Squad were teammates David Williams and Trevor Dominique with rounds of 76.  Brady Rupp had an 81 and Anna Marshall a 94 for the Indians.

Branden Turner turned in the low score for the Eagles with a 77, while Clayton VanDeVoorde was right behind with a 78.  Kole Peterson and Dylan Hutchison came in the clubhouse with rounds of 80 and 81 respectively, with Cameron Cochran closing out the scoring for North Central with an 83.

Several other area teams competed in the event.  The host Stryker Panthers finished in fifth place with a score of 337.  Tanner Clingaman paced the Cats with a 78, while brother Hunter and Chad Ruffer checked in with 82’s.  Nick Fox had a 95 and Nathan Yoder a 112.

The Fayette Eagles total of 372 was good enough to collect ninth place.  Dusty Lantz was the high flyer for the Eagles with an 85.  Other scores for Fayette were:  Riley Martin 90, Zayne Colegrove 97, Michael Brubaker 100 and Matt Storrs 103.

The Edon Blue Bombers finished in 11th place with a 377.  Scores for Edon were:  Chandler Siebenaler 91, Alex Kirkingburg and Lucas Wertman 94, Shane Carter 98, and Taylor Schwartz 108.

Other teams and individual scores were:  13th place Hilltop-384 (Isaac VanArsdalen 91, Jesse Westfall and Trevor Shipman 96, Mathew Schmidt 101, and Travis Haynes 107).   14th place Montpelier-391 (Hunter Shaull 87, Clay O’Neal 99, Sam Rings 101, Andrew Luke 104, and Leslie Clark 111).  15th place tie Pettisville-398 (Tyler Herschberger 91, Ryan King 94, Matt Krill 106, Greg Kempf 107, and Reed Behnfeldt 127).
