NWOAL FOOTBALL: Delta Headed To Playoffs After 49-7 Win At Bryan

BRYAN – With their playoff hopes at stake, the Delta Panthers took care of business with a 49-7 rout of Bryan in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League regular season finale at Golden Bear Stadium.


The victory also guaranteed the Panthers (6-4, 4-3 NWOAL) a berth in the Division V, Region 18 state football playoffs as the No. 12 seed in the region. They will travel to No. 5 seed Liberty Benton (10-0) in a first round matchup on Friday, October 31.

Vincent Martinez accounted for four touchdowns leading the Panthers to the lopsided victory.

The junior running back scored on runs of 34, 15 along with a pair of seven-yard runs while finishing with 98 yards on the ground on 12 carries.

Marcus Nagel, who led all rushers with 157 yards on 19 carries, added a pair of scores for Delta on runs of one and 25 yards. Gunner Taylor caught a five-yard TD pass from Emric Friess for the other Delta touchdown.


Cade Carlin scored on a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter for Bryan’s lone touchdown.

Jake Arnold completed 16 of 23 passes for 134 yards for the Golden Bears, who closed out their regular season at 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the NWOAL.
