Oaks Lactation and Wellness in Swanton held a ribbon cutting ceremony in partnership with the Swanton Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 5th.

The business is located at 113 South Main Street in Downtown Swanton.

Sarah DoMoe is the owner and helps new families, and existing families with a new addition, find better wellness with their babies and also helps with issues mothers may face when breast feeding.

The mission at Oaks is to create a peaceful feeding routine that allows parents to better bond with their baby.

“Families come to Oaks for support with painful latching, supply concerns, frustrating feedings, inducing latching, frustrating feedings, fussy babies, colic, acid reflux, bottle feeding, tongue ties, weaning, parental education and more.”

“Just because breast feeding is the natural way to feed a baby does not mean it is easy. At oaks it’s not just the baby we take care of. We pride ourselves in focusing on the family as a whole,” said Sarah.

Services are provided by appointment only at Oaks and all booking is done online. After booking an appointment, Sarah explains that a typical visit consists of the family coming in and then a review of the health history and birth takes place.

After that, they will discuss what the family is looking for, spend time with the baby and get a feel for what is going on.

Work with positioning and latching can also take place as well as a discussion regarding any supply concerns.

“By the time they leave, they will have a concrete plan on how to feed their baby, spend time with their baby, and how to get rest,” said Sarah.
