Edgerton Village Council Appoints Interim Police Chief

The Edgerton Village Council held their meeting on Tuesday August 3rd at 7PM. Following roll call, council moved to approve the minutes from the July 20th meeting.

Council then heard a Health Benefits Update given by Crystal Meyer from the NBHP. Russ Davies from Andres O’Neil & Lowe-Insurance then gave and update as well.

With no committee updates to be heard, council moved to legislative actions.

The second reading of Resolution 2021-007 was heard first. The resolution was in regard to the acceptance of amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor. A motion was made to approve the resolution which was approved.

Council then heard the second reading of Ordinance 1058. The ordinance was in regard to the implementation of sections 3735.65 through 3735.70 of the Ohio Revised Code.


It is also for establishing and describing the boundaries of community reinvestment areas in the village of Edgerton and designating a housing officer to administer the program and creating a community reinvestment housing council. A motion was made to approve the ordinance which was also approved.

Council then moved to accept the resignation of Dan Griffin from the position of Police Chief and approved his reclassification to patrolman.

Sgt. Matt Krill was approved as the interim Police Chief to perform administrative duties for three months. Council then approved the advertisement for applications for the position of Police Chief and patrolman before moving to adjourn.
